IS L. A. SOFT ON CRIMINAL ALIEN GANGS? Internet Preview (10 min) on Jamiel's Law & the Shaw Family

Los Angeles, CA On March 8, 2008 an 18th Street gang member shot and killed 17 year old Jamiel Shaw, II, a popular high school football star just three doors from his home. The news that the accused killer, Pedro Espinosa, was an illegal alien who had been released from L. A. County jail, after serving only four months on assault and weapons charges, outraged the Shaw family and sent shock waves throughout the community.

In a Full Disclosure Network® special series, Jamiel Shaw, Sr. and U.S. Army Sgt. Anita Shaw, parents of the murder victim, describe the circumstances of the cold blooded shooting in their neighborhood. Watch preview here They also reveal the unusual and unexpected reactions from elected officials and law enforcement following their endorsement of a new law (Jamiel’s Law) to change the lenient city policy that prohibits police officers from enforcing immigration law or verifying immigration status of gang members.

Some of the developments described by the Shaws are:

  • The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office pressured the Shaw’s to stop criticizing the City’s controversial “don’t ask, don’t tell” immigration policy known as LAPD’s Special Order 40.
  • Los Angeles City Council members attempted to silence Shaw family members from speaking before the Council and urged them to drop their opposition to Special Order 40.
  • Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee informed the Shaws that the D.A.’s office was prepared to claim the murder was gang related and in order to do so the D.A. would contend that their son was a gang member.
  • The Shaws detail their outrage regarding the Deputy District Attorney’s stated intentions to tarnish their popular son’s reputation. They cite the facts that their son had no gang affiliations, no police records whatsoever and to the contrary was praised as role model by teachers and all who knew him.

Los Angeles District Attorney, & Superior Court Refuse to Deport Illegal Gangs: Watch Internet Video News Blog (3 min)

Los Angeles, CA -- The L.A. County District Attorney and the L. A Superior Courts have declined immigration enforcement actions such as deportation of criminal alien gang members, as a matter of policy.

The Full Disclosure Network® is releasing a three minute Video News Blog, featuring statements from the official spokespersons for the Superior Court and the District Attorney's office who tells Full Disclosure that "our prosecutions don't have anything to do with immigration policy".

Much like the Los Angeles Police Department's Special Order 40 "don't ask, dont' tell" policy, the Los Angeles Superior Court spokeswoman, Geri Ann Haslet states their policy is "we do not treat undocumented persons any differently than anyone else".

The Full Disclosure Network® Video News Blog provides insight into the hands off policy of local law enforcement and the courts where illegal criminal aliens apparently have equal rights and protections under the law. This Video News Blog is featured on the Full Disclosure Network website at http://www.fulldisclosure.net/ and is to be featured on 45 cable television channels as part of a Video News Blog Special Series.

Steve Ipsen, President of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys, who is a critic of the hands off immigration policy, told Full Disclosure that "illegal alien gang members who are released from jail, on probation in Los Angeles County, must have the approval of the District Attorney's office and in fact are ordered by the Courts to stay in the United States and to obtain employment".

Following the March 2, 2008 murder of a popular high school football star, Jamiel Shaw, II, a criminal gang member by the name of Pedro Espinosa, was arrested for the crime. Espinosa had been early released from L. A. County jail after service four months on assault and weapons charges.
Neither the District Attorney’s office or the Courts raised any questions as to whether or not he should be removed from the country. The L. A. County Sheriff’s Department failed to notify Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) that Espinosa was in the country illegally.

How Mexican Drug Cartels Take Over Local Cities: Sunday on Cable TV (Online Previews 8 min each)

Los Angeles, CA. According to 33 year veteran international gang specialist and retired L.A. Sheriff’s Sergeant Richard Valdemar, Mexican drug cartels have infiltrated city councils and political campaigns in many small cities in Los Angeles County and illegal immigration is threatening the United States.

The L. A . Cable Channel 36 is featuring two segments from a four-part Full Disclosure Network® series with Sgt. Valdemar this Sunday and Monday, as follows:

Sunday, Feb. 17th 8:00 p.m. Part 1 8:30 p.m. Part 2

Preview Part 1 Drug Cartels Take Over Local Cities ( 8 min)
Preview Part 2 Illegal Immigration Threatens America

Summary of two segments in the Valdemar interview series:

* Sgt. Valdemar cited the following cities as having been infiltrated by the Mexican drug cartels: Lynwood, Bell Gardens, Hawaiian Gardens, South Gate, Huntington Park., Vernon, Cudahy.
* Drug cartels set up phony businesses to launder drug money, usually used car lots, used tire shops that serve as a “front” for their operations.
* Sgt. Valdemar says it all starts when a small business, like a restaurant, is purchased by someone with drug money from Mexico, who sets up shop and starts inviting the city fathers to come for complimentary or discounted meals.
* Then invitations are extended to local police and other government officials, until the business operator is well established, with powerful friends.
* Drug money is used to send out smear campaign literature to destroy reputations of incumbent city council members and to finance the campaigns of challengers whose goal is to get a majority voting block on the city council.
* Once the drug cartel controls the city council, they fire the city attorney, city manager and start giving out contracts, like the trash collection contract, to their cronies.

The entire four-part interview series with Sgt. Richard Valdemar is scheduled to re-run on 45 cable systems. Channels and airtimes can be found on the website. L. A. District Attorney & Sheriff Politics Kill Gangs, Drugs & Immigration Conference

DISTRICT ATTORNEY STEVE COOLEY
FULL DISCLOSURE® IS SPONSORED BY THE CITIZENS PROTECTION ALLIANCE A NON-PROFIT, EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION

Los Angeles, CA Organizers of the September 5-7th law enforcement training conference on “Gangs, Drugs, & Immigration” scheduled to be held at the Westin Los Angeles Bonaventure Hotel, have announced the event has been cancelled due to political infighting attributed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. This was to have been the first-ever law enforcement training conference sponsored by citizens for both prosecutors and law enforcement officers.
The scheduled instructors who were to conduct the training are top experts in their field and long-time POST certified instructors, recognized by the California Commission on Police Standards & Training (POST) and representatives from the Orange County District Attorney's Gang Injunction programs and Asian Gang Investigators. In addition, the U. S. Border Patrol was to make a presentation on border violence.
  • L.A. D.A. Office Interferes: "We were unable to muster support and cooperation from the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department (LASD) who had pledged to participate in the event,” claims conference organizer T. J. Johnston, Executive Director of the Citizens Protection Alliance. He said the problems started when the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office raised objections to the event.
  • Conflict With The L.A. County District Attorney? Johnston said the first indication of dissention came on June 21st when the CPA received an E-mail from Sheriff Leroy Baca’s staff raising the issue of a possible “conflict” with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office and the ADDA, another co-sponsoring organization. “The L. A. County Sheriff's Department (LASD) had pledged to promote the conference via their internal communication system known as ‘JDIC’, but once the L. A. County District Attorney’s conflict surfaced, Sheriff Baca's support quickly evaporated.” Johnston said

L.A.D.A.'s Interference Cited By CPA's Johnston:

  • “The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office contacted the California Commission on Police Officer & Training (POST), and in a series of email messages, falsely stated that the conference did not have the support of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and raised concerns about the 'legitimacy' of the seminar,” Johnston said.
  • Two District Attorney (automobile fraud) Investigators from the DA’s Commerce Office appeared at the CPA office on Friday, July 5th flashing badges to find out who provided the e-mail list of L A. District Attorneys regarding the sending out of the announcements of the law enforcement training conference. They claimed the taxpayer funded e-mail list was “private”.
  • The second week in July Baca’s Chief of Staff verbally notified the CPA that Sheriff Baca was withdrawing all support and participation from the event.
  • In addition to the CPA--a non-profit community organization--the four other organizations letters of support and co-sponsorship are listed here: Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the California District Attorney’s Association and the Deputy District Attorney’s Association

"Even though the Orange County Sheriff and the two District Attorney’s Associations continued their co-sponsorship, LASD’s withdrawal effectively killed the conference by cancelling their support to obtain the POST credentials. Therefore the conference has been cancelled due to the D.A.'s interference and the LASD's unexplained withdrawal of their sponsorship and support." Johnston said. # # # #

Ultimate Gang Solution Near? Watch Video

Los Angeles, CA. – Is the ultimate gang solution near? In a FREE thirteen minute FULL DISCLOSURE NETWORK® video news blog Steve Ipsen, President of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys and Jerry Thompson, retired Sheriffs Deputy say yes and they describe the process. The courts could require juvenile offenders to wear GPS tracking devices thus deterring adult gang members from recruiting them into unlawful and violent activities, according to Ipsen, the result would be “divide and conquer the gangs”. The FDN video news blog is moderated by Emmy Award winning host Leslie Dutton and available FREE, 24/7, on demand, as a public service.

The biggest break ever in the war against gangs is ready to be employed. So says 20 year veteran prosecutor Steve Ipsen, all that is needed is for law enforcement and judicial officials is to endorse the use of new technology available for a GPS tacking system and a few modifications to the California Penal Code. Thompson confirms the technology is here and already being deployed for similar uses.

Among the novel uses for the device in fighting gang crimes and a proposal on how to pay for it:

  • Change Penal Code: Adult gang members found using juveniles would be guilty of a felony
  • Send juvenile gang members to a 2 week boot camp to learn about “Three Strikes Law”
  • Send juveniles to 1 week boot camp to learn how GPS tracking systems sounds alarm to monitors when curfews are violated, they skip school, fail to show up for work assignments or even wander into rival gang territory
  • The cost of the GPS devices and monitoring service could be paid by taxing released criminals and parolees $50 per year for Drivers Licenses
  • Parolees could be monitored as well, so if suspected of a particular crime their location could be verified and they could be arrested or removed from suspicion

Following the video viewers are asked to vote on the following survey questions:

  • Should the State be authorized to place tracking devices on known gang juveniles?
  • Should the parole system use tracking technology?
  • Do you fear technology could threaten civil rights?

Viewers are also invited to participate in the video news blog discussion by posting comments below the streaming video. Video: Gangs & Terrorists Threaten Airports....Video News Blog (7 min)

Los Angeles, CA. In a seven minute Full Disclosure Network™ Video News Blog United States Attorney Debra Yang and retired L. A. County Sheriff Sergeant Richard Valdemar discuss the problems of gang members and illegal foreign nationals working as airport baggage handlers and in high security areas of airports and who have access to the tarmacs and commercial airliners. This video is available FREE, on demand, 24/7 as a public service.

Airport Security Scrambles
While U. S. airport security officials are scrambling to confiscate toiletries, baby formula and personal beverages from airline passengers, it would appear an even greater danger lurks behind the scenes in airline operations.

Terrorist Access to Airports
One suspect recently arrested in the terrorist plot to bomb airliners bound for the United States, was reported to have full access to Heathrow Airport. The real threat of terrorist acts being perpetrated by gang members and foreign nationals working for the airlines has not drawn much media attention, yet experts have expressed concern and airline management contend they cannot inquire as to an applicant's affiliation with a gang or any other organization.

Richard Valdemar, retired after 33 years with the L. A. County Sheriff’s Department OSS gang detail. He describes some the following concerns about airport safety:
  • Drug oriented, rival gangs employed by airlines, having access to the cargo holds.
  • Rival gang signs have been found present inside the cargo holds
  • Danger of guns and gang shoot-outs in close proximity to the airplanes
  • Lack of background checks by airlines
  • Hiring of foreign nationals, illegal immigrants for baggage handling

U.S. Attorney Debra Yang told Full Disclosure Network™ (FDN) that 80 illegal immigrants were arrested (and prosecuted) who worked at Los Angeles International Airport, after 9/11 for the following:

  • Falsifying employment documents
  • Unreported prior criminal convictions
  • Falsely claiming resident and citizenship status
  • Working in security positions without proper background checks

Billed as “the news behind the news” the Full Disclosure Network™ is an independent, educational, public affairs cable program featured on 43 cable systems and the worldwide Internet website http://www.fulldisclosure.net/, Hosted by Leslie Dutton, in 2002 the program was presented with a public affairs Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for their series entitled “L.A.’s War Against Terrorism”. Channels and airtimes can be found on the website.
