I am retired Army. Your current policy is in fact a violation of our rights. Unless you can proivide me a full-time bodyguard, you are liable for any damages I suffer if you forcibly rstirct my right of self-defense. |

Austrailia & the UK have enacted strict gun control laws and their crime rates have skyrocketed. YOu want to see how strict gun control works in the US? Go no further than Washington DC or Chicago. |

One last rant before I stop. I served in the Navy for over 7 years. I was honorably discharged. I have never been arrested or convicted of any crime. I am a National Rifle Association certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor. I taught over 10,000 Military and Law Enforcement personnel in the three plus years I was a Navy Firearms Instructor. And now as a civilian I cant carry a gun because someone with less training and experiance than me decided I am a risk?! What happened to the right to life libert and the persuit of happiness? Is anyone else sick of politicians deciding to protect me from myself? Maybe its time we start a petition to strike down all of the useless anti gun laws. They sure have not done anything to stop the surge in violent crime in the last 30 years. But God forbid a law abiding citizen wants to protect their life, or their family, or their property. |

Look at Frank White. He is a San Diego cop on trial for shooting a woman after she chased him and his wife and then rammed their car with her vehicle. Her BAC was twice the legal limit and she was in possesion of marijuana. Now he is on trial for protectiing himself and his wife. WELCOME TO COMMUNIST CALIFORNIA, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR RIGHTS AT THE BORDER! |

Look at the crime rates in "shall issue" states as compared to "non issue" states. Per capita the rates are ALWAYS lower in the "shall issue" states. |

Law abiding citizens will not carry a concealed firearm without a permit, whereas law breaking citizens will carry around a weapon as they please and use it to help further break the law. Keeping citizens from carrying only stops the lawful from being armed as criminals will do it regardless of having a permit or not. Violating and/or hindering the Second Amendment is shameful and as good citizens, we should be awarded this right to carry. |

I belive no permit should be needed to protect ones self, ones family, and property.
But as a permit is requird, yes it should be a shall issue, with only a back ground check, and a traning (no more that say 18 hours long)where one only needs to show working knolage and handling of your weapon, along with some book work on the laws dealing with use of deadly force.

The people who oppose CCW shall-issue standardization claim that the average citizen is not a target, that it's only "high profile" people who might need to be armed. Well, explain that to the ordinary man or woman who has been assaulted, robbed, or raped. And, then follow that up with a lecture on the merits of non-violent conflict resolution.
When criminals know that people are likely to be unarmed, it sure makes their objective a lot easier. Interestingly, criminals tend to support rabid gun control because laws only apply to the law-abiding.
Training, testing, and background check, all fully standardized CCW criteria, should apply for all applicants, regardless of who they are, or how important they are perceived to be. The current CCW "selective" process in CA and the handful of remaining CCW hold-out states is nothing short of Jim Crow.
