D.A. RESPONDS ON   L.A. CORRUPTION & BELMONT

FULL DISCLOSURE SHOW PROMOTES D.A.'s RESPONSE VIA INTERNET & CABLE CHANNELS

Los Angeles,-CA- L. A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley responded to criticism of his failure to indict and prosecute white collar crime in Los Angeles.   In a two-part, no-holds-barred interview on the Emmy Award winning Full Disclosure Network® program with host Leslie Dutton, Cooley describes the long history of corruption in the City of Los Angeles and says the reason it appears there is a lot of corruption in L.A. is because his office is aggressively prosecuting it.  Cooley's interview covered a wide range of L.A. corruption issues, the Three Strikes Law and his handling of the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese child molesting case  and is set to air world-wide on the  Internet Monday, March 29, 2004 on the STREAMING PAGE  and home page at www.fulldisclosure.net, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, FREE, as a public service.

Cooley easily won re-election to a four year term on March 2nd, overcoming harsh criticism from challengers on Belmont and other white collar crimes. District Attorney challenger Anthony Patchett who was appointed by Cooley to head the Ad Hoc Belmont Task Force and attorney Roger Carrick who also served on the Task force campaigned against Cooley citing his inaction on Belmont "the nation's most expensive high school."  Cooley also responds to Patchett''s claim that he was removed from the Belmont investigation immediately after requesting indictments and Grand Jury investigation on Belmont.

In Part 1 of the interview Cooley described the conspiracy charges filed by his office involving the reimbursement of campaign donations made by sub-contractors to office holders. He also, addressed the issue of the "Three Strikes" law as it pertaining to illegal aliens who have repeatedly returned to Los Angeles following convictions and deportations.

In Part 2 Cooley responded directly to charges made by Patchett on Belmont who told Full Disclosure Network® in a videotaped interview last February that his investigation and that of the LAUSD Inspector General discovered "false claims, kick-backs, conflicts of interest, bid-rigging, and a license to steal" in what he terms the "$175 million fraud known as Belmont".  Cooley denied that Patchett ever provided him with a request to indict and stated both the LAUSD Inspector General and Patchett never named names and claims that people working under Patchett did not agree with his work.

You can view the entire two-part program on our website at www.fulldisclosure.net, via media streaming.  The Cooley and Patchett interviews and other programs can be seen on 40 cable systems over the next six months throughout California.  A channel guide with airtimes is available on the website.
