Los Angeles, CA  The Full Disclosure Network® presents a seven minute preview video from a two-part series entitled “Belmont Opens: Toxic or Not?”   The billion dollar high school that was built on top of the “old Los Angeles Oil Field” is about to open to students for the first time since this controversial school construction project began almost two decades ago.  Renamed for the third time, Belmont is now called Edward Roybal High School.

The new two-part series features LAUSD Officials touting the partial completion of the Belmont project and showcases the $20 billion dollar expansion program of the District as part of a “kick off” ceremony for the National School Construction week.  Noteably missing from the program was any references to the presence of an earthquake fault,  deadly hydrogen sulfide and methane gases that plagued and delayed the construction project for so many years.

Featured in these latest two segments of an on-going series on the school are:

  • David L. Brewer, LAUSD Superintendent of Schools
  • Monica Garcia, President LAUSD Board of Education
  • Yolie Flores Aguilar, Member LAUSD Board of Education
  • Scott Wildman, former Chair, California State Legislative Audit Committee
  • Kaye Kilburn, MD, Ralph Edgington Chair, Keck USC School of Medicine
  • Guy Mahula, LAUSD Chief Facilities Executive
  • Ed Reyes, Los Angeles City Councilman
  • Scott Braxton, Principal  Roybal (Belmont) High School
  • Scott Folsom, LAUSD Bond Oversight Committee, PTA Official
  • Caprice Young, former LAUSD Board President
  • Patricia McPherson, President Grassroots Coalition
  • Manny Maldana, Community Activist and Candidate for State Assembly
  • George Buzzetti, Community Activist

This series is to be featured on 47 cable systems and the Internet and is to be featured on DCTV public channels in Washington D.C..  A complete listing of channels and airtimes, by community can be found from this link.

Nicholas Duran: You did not mention here how you were in volved in the Belmont project. Were you one of the contractors or do you work for the school district? We would be most interested to interview you. We have over 15 hours of videotaped interviews starting in 2003 with all the major players involved in the development, financing and investigations on Belmont. And, we are not finished yet. Our coverage of this massive public project is on going and we are counting on insiders like you to come forward with additional information and explanations. Can you explain why LAUSD would avoid the issue of remediation of the toxic hazards on the Belmont site? We are still waiting for our calls to be returned on this issue. Please call me at 310-822-4449 to set up an interview date and provide us with your credentials on this subject.

As someone who knows the project very well I would like for the truth to be heard. All of the people complaining about the "billion" dollar school should really get a life and be productive in the world. You love to make issues out of things when you dont even know he facts. As for the lady in the video asking about the gas mitigation system, if you knew anything you would go to the construction documents and "read" them and you would know all about the system. All documents are public record and are available for public use. And seriously, mexicans are the problem. Come on now. Instead of solving a problem, let's just blame it on someone else. If you look at the facts and statistics, white people abuse the social system more than any other race in America. So, next time be a little enlightened before you post that Mexicans are the issue. Full disclosure could be an awesome site if you would stop publishing false information. Ask the people in the neighborhood if they have increased cases of cancer, they make a claim that the children are at risk. Ask the students if they enjoy having a desk to sit at, ask the teachers if they enjoy teaching 25 student instead of 50 at a time. This school is a great addition to the community which will benefit from the many services the schoola nd park provide. Be happy for the people and let them enjoy their school.

Ms. Garcia is so unenlightened it makes me ill. We do not need more schools; we need fewer children and according to Dr. Ed Rubenstein's Sociolocgical Survey, 90% of our growth problems are due to Hispanic women who are procreating well over replacement levels. MS. GARCIA WAKE UP: THERE ARE LIMITS TO GROWTH. Ms. Garcia and people like her are the reason our country is NOW A THIRD WORLD NATION. Because of ilegal procreating immigrants who are spawning like rats is the reason children are suffering all over the world with well over 250,000 babies being born each and everyday. If Ms. Garcia is truly interested in the future of "kids" she should wake up and fight for MANDATORY BIRTH CONTROL.

LAUSD has been plagued with management living in a fantasy world and in persistent denial of what's really happening. Because Monica Garcia says its so does not make it so. Too many Board members yielded to their vanity and tried to leave a legacy as a self-tribute. Unfortunately, it was not a legacy of superior quality of education, but bluntly, absolute incompetence and arrogance demonstrated in choices they made. The current administration continues that pathetic tradition, defying any application of common sense and concern for preparing students even close to adequately.

we already know why, when, how, where and who is misleading us. Let's see if people is willing to ignore the facts, support the expensive project or just close their eyes and keep approving $$$ for the Broken LAUSD construction Bond. More money for Mehula, that's great keep feeding the fat cats.
