Bratton about what kind of support Mayor Hahn was
seeking from the Federal Government, when he announced
the hiring of a lobbying firm in Washington. Bratton
replied, "Well, it's a Republican administration;
California and Los Angeles is thought to be very strong
Democratic stronghold, so the idea of a lobbyist is
to help deal with the administration that is from the
opposite party, but more importantly, to identify where are
the funding opportunities to support anti-terrorism,
to support any of the various initiatives that the man
might want to get into."
