Los Angeles, CA. The Full Disclosure Network® presents an exclusive video report on how California Taxpayers pay matching funds every time voters in Los Angeles approve billions in school bonds for the what is described as “the Beast” or an economic engine known as the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). And those bonds end up costing taxpayers double the amount with interest paid to bond holders

LAUSD officials describe in the video, how a new proposed $7 Billion dollar school bond, if it is approved by voters, should be considered an “Economic Stimulus Plan” for the region. They tout the bond will employ workers, generate construction of new schools during a time of economic slow down in the area.Appearing the ten minute Video News Blog with comments pro and con are the following:

  • David R. Hernandez, Exec. Director San Fernando Chamber of Commerce
  • David Brewer, Superintendent Los Angeles Unified School District
  • Monica Garcia, President Los Angeles Unified Board of Education
  • Guy Mahula, Chief Executive of Facilities Division, LAUSD
  • George Buzzetti, Los Angeles City Activist
  • Keith Richman, Former California State Assemblyman
  • Leslie Dutton, Moderator

At the end of the video viewers are asked to leave their comments and participate in an online survey by voting on the following questions:

  • Should all Californians vote on the LA Bonds too, since they pay matching funds?
  • Should the bond language disclose how much interest will be paid for the bonds?
  • Which should be the priority of the school district be: 1) educating the children ? or 2) stimulating the economy?

It is not just the Lausd it is also the Teachers Union that is holding the Students Hostage for their pay and benefits increases!

This at a time when the school system is steadily getting worse reports. As far as not spending to match say NJ spending per child, you have to look at the results where NJ is at the bottom of list in student achievement and LA is about in the middle with almost as high cost per student. Also, with the rapid increase in children in the poorer areas, do these students have a place to study at home? Are they motivated to study by their parents? Even if you relocatede Stanford or Harvard in these areas, would it make any difference?

We also cannot endlessly blaim teachers for others social problems, which is the root of what their daily problems; these need to be addressed before any school improvements.

I don't mind paying taxes if I knew that it would not be wasted.

We need to vote the incumbents out
of office and show them that "We the people" are their boss!

Vote NO on Measure Q! Obama says no new taxes to the middle class which is what this measure will do. In hard economic times, voters can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars in increased property taxes for the next 44 years. LAUSD enrollment has dropped by 7% whereas administration has increased by 20%. This is a $7 billion bond plus $7 billion in interest serving a bloated bureaucracy.

The Children is not the problem, It's the Board Of EDUCATION & All the UNIONS. that is wasting our TAXES.

LAUSD is building two new high schools in San Pedro. It would be cheaper to build one high school but instead they are building two campuses. One of those will divide the present San Pedro High into two campuses linked by a bus service.

I wish there was some way the California taxpayers could deny the bond money that LAUSD is requesting, so that they could lay off some of their bureaucratic administrators who don't do much of anything, or do a poor job of it. We need to get rid of the bloat.

In the middle 80's, I remember reading that the Superintendent's chauffer made $94,000 per year. Just for driving. I was incredulous. It makes me wonder how many other ways the LAUSD wastes our taxpayer money.

I thought Leslie Dutton was funny in the video. She is normally a neutral narrator, who tries to present both sides of an issue. But she kept on lambasting the LAUSD for wasting billions ! Priceless.

George Buzzetti is right, but the Beast(in addition to Monica Garcia's failed policies) are all the illegals and legals whocome to the United States and procreate litters of children who eventually drop out of school and either get pregnant; join gangs; expand our prison population or do all three. Wake up; there are in excess of 111 million illegals in this country now who need to be deported immediately because they are putting a strain on our economy and environment. If you don't believe this, go to Population Balance and review Dr. Ed Rubenstein's Demographic Surveys which proove the fact that 90% of our overpopulation is due to Hispanic childbearing females whose birth rate is well above replacement levels and if something is not done immediately, within the next 30 years they will be responsible for our population reaching one billion inhabitants. We must close our borders and not reward illegals who are costing us over 20 more billion dollars than they contribute each and every year. The have made the United States a Third World Country. MITs World 3 Computer predicted LIMITS TO GROWTH in 1973. Mayor Villaraigosa should wake up because his procreating Hispanic people (many of whom agree with me including one exgang member who put his wife on birth control after their 1st and only baby when I showd them the statistics)are responsible for the massive overflow of sewage; in addition to traffic jams; and water rationing. The United States cannot support the over 400 million people we have now; so Mr, Villaraigosa and Monica Garcia, what will you do when it reaches ONE BILLION 90% due to Hispanic illegal babies? How many schools will we need then?
