once again politics takes a front seat. these guys are a bunch of jerks. they play the race card every time they get a chance and create nothing but divisiveness in our community.it is obvious what their motives are. are they kidding "nature deficit disorder". is this park for spanish speaking people only ? no wonder this city is going down the tubes. these guys get termed out and they get a job with one of their buddies and keep sucking the public dry. term limits should mean they have to get a real job after they are termed out.

If hispanic politicians were solely responsible for budgets, expenditures, and administration they would be to blame, but in the republican oriented state we have not anyone to blame others than us who elected blacks, latinos, anglos, and asians and David Hernandez has not a leg to stand where he has serve himself of these same remarks...as caucasians will use the same laws in a hundred years from now...when the forefathers wrote the U. S. Constitution believe you me....they did not saw the changes in immigrant communities and for sure their only thought in mind was a greater freedom that had nothing to do with LORDS or any part of Parliamant to be copy--but the rules to keep the civics in the meetings

All those speaking from the podium today were expressing their own thoughts. Do describe this program as biased, is perfectly correct, there was only one side heard. Can anyone tell me why there was not dissent? I have never heard of a Nature Deficit Disorder, is that a new class of victims?

Phyllip Lambro you are an angry man. Visit Vista Hermosa Park you may be suffering from nature deficit disorder. You are a true product of our current administration which wants you to believe that the crisis our country, state and city is suffering is due to those less fair in skin color. I advice you to stop reading biased nonesense like this and listen and read more truthful and progressive media you may just learn to become more of a critical thinker.

Brenda, I think you are on to the real connection. The latinos wouldn't have the money if the the most powerful politicians were not behind it. Great observation.

I feel that the amount of money that slips through latino politicians hands is no comparison to the trillions that have sliped past our governors and our presidents hands.

By using Spanish, newcomers can be alienated and also indoctrinated with socialist catch phrases like "social justice". This flirtation with Marxism, and waste of tax money on useless programs that propagate disdain for the host population, will continue to sink L.A. deeper into third world status. "Nature deficit disorder" - what rubbish! This is just more race baiting.

Kevin DeLeon contradicts himself.

After declaring access to parks a "civil rights issue," he adds, "Regardless of your legal status, you deserve access..."

This is impossible. The very first definition of the word "civil" in any dictionary of the English language is, "CIVIL (adjective) of a citizen or citizens."

And I'm confident that no definition of "citizen" is qualified with the phrase, "regardless of legal status."

Of course, I may be naive in supposing that California and Los Angeles governments still recognize dictionaries of the ENGLISH language.

Thanks, Leslie, for showing what is happening in in L.A., and the rest of the country! We need to rename the country the Fractured States of America!
