Los Angeles, CA. - What are the forces behind releasing sentenced criminals from jail before they finish their sentences, sometimes without even serving their sentences at all? - Sheriff Lee Baca: We had to sleep people in the chapel , in the hallways and the ACLU complained
- Edwin Meese: The Courts have usurped the function of the legislature by taking over prisons, school boards, police departments, etc. for which they have no particular expertise in running.
- Captain Ken Masse: If a criminal is sentenced to 90 days in jail they serve only three days.
- Lt. Don Meredith: As a result of that early release program some people have been murdered.
- Sgt. Paul Jernigan early releases take away the punishment for the crimes committed.
- Sheriff Lee Baca: Federal Court decree in the Rutherford decision has capped the number of prisoners we can house at 18,000

What we need are less corrupt courts, and sane laws, with sane sentences. Except for the violent criminals, the state is a bigger danger to the public, than most of the ones in jail. I'm sick of getting ripped off by our phony government, and their out of control spending(wasting).

there's too many jail sentences imposed on non violent crimes. Traffic warrents, and drugs for example. If society wants 1 in every 100 people in jail, let them pony up the dough to build more jails. This is the courts overriding the crummy job the legislatures are doing, with creating this situation.

This country is a police state. We have more cops per capita, more lawyers per capita and more persons in jail per capita than any country in the world and we still have one of the highest crime rates. There are too many people in jail for victimless crimes that should not be incarcerated. If the state is going to incarcerate, they should prioritize violent criminals. The public is naive they have no idea how bad the prison and county jails are. People picked up on the basis of ID theft often sit in jail for weeks or months before they can get out, and the jailers have "qualified immunity". Moreover, now we are privitizing jails and juvenile detention. Two judges in PA just got convicted of taking bribes for packing innocent kids into jail. One girl spent 13 months in detention for making fun of her principal on her blog. Furthermore, about 90% of all criminal cases plead guilty and the ones that go to trial lose about 90% of the time. Criminal cases are not being dismissed primarily because of "technicalities" such as violations of constitutional rights (less than 5% are dismissed for violations of constitutional rights). Most are dismissed due to lack of evidence, uncooperative witnesses, prosecutorial error etc. In any case, I am more afraid of the police than I am of criminals.

I would deport ALL illegal Aliens, and their children, to resolve this problem. I would revise the 3 strikes law to where those under the 3rd stike would be put to death.

USA Constitution:
Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment states, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."
The Founding Fathers and creators of the Amendment stated as follows:
Senator Jacob Merritt Howard of Michigan suggested the addition of the phrase specifically to make clear that an incident of birth in the United States would not justify citizenship. Sen. Howard noted that the "jurisdiction" requirement is "simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already." Sen. Howard said that "this will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens..."
The immigration laws already on the books are enough to stop immigration, as well as deport the existing illegals and their children, had our Constitution not been reinterpreted by Liberal Marxist Judges the past 50 years.
The Elites of Mexico, mostly of Caucasian blood, are smart though corrupt. If I could get rid of the illiterate criminal peasants from my country, while invading another country (USA) at the same time, I too would use such tactics to overthrow the forein government.
There will not be a military war over this tactic, but there will be a civil war that will bring ALL the people of both nations to slave status under a Police State ran by Dictators.

when ever the aclu gets involved , it is a really bad thing, loosing our freedoms because of the aclu, i would like to see where they would never get any of our tax dollars, it is bad when you have to realely bad when you have to realese prisoners because of overcrowding , unless they have been good prisoners , if getting out means they won't hurt any one or do another crime.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but unless we have MANDATORY BIRTH CONTROL, things will only get worse with over-crowding not only in prisons, but housing, traffic, crime, etc.
