FULL DISCLOSURE NETWORK® SEEKS FULL HEARING ON CABLE CHANNEL
Internet exclusive: On Full Disclosure® Video News Blog
Video Blog Time: 6:18 mins.
Release Date: Aug 9, 2006

Los Angeles, CA  Full Disclosure Network® presents a six minute Video News Blog featuring a chronology of events leading up to the abrupt termination of the Emmy Award winning public affairs program from the L. A. CityView Cable Channel 35 last June.  Host Leslie Dutton appeals to viewers of the program on public cable channels and the Internet to join in the campaign to find out the real reasons why the public service program was terminated.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT:

Appearing in this video news blog are community leaders who testified in support of the Full Disclosure Network® at a July 27, 2006 meeting of the Los Angeles Municipal Access Policy Board that oversees operations of CityView Channel 35.   The video features clips of their requests for a full investigation and hearing. Those testifying are:

  • Don Schultz, past president Van Nuys Neighborhood Council, & Homeowers Association
  • David Hernandez, North Hollywood Neighborhood Association
  • Dave Bradford, Silverlake/Echo Park Residents
  • Gil Wong, member Sylmar/Lakeview Terrace Homowners
  • Leslie Dutton,  Producer/Host of the Full Disclosure Network®

PROGRAMMING PROVIDED AS A PUBLIC SERVICE

Since 1992 the Full Disclosure® program has been featured on CityView Channel 35, without cost to the City, as a public service at the request of various City Departments, agencies and Council members.  The Full Disclosure Network® is an educational, non-profit organization.  In 2002, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented host Leslie Dutton with a public affairs Emmy Award for their series entitled “L.A.’s War Against Terrorism”, featuring LAPD Chief Bernard Parks, LAPD Lt. Ken Hillman, L.A. Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas and L.A. County Sheriff Leroy Baca, covering how government agencies would work together following 9/11.

VIEWERS URGED TO HELP

At the conclusion of this video news blog the Full Disclosure Network® requests viewers to call

  • Tony Ighani   Station Manager   at  213-485-7561
  • Bernard Parks, Council District 8   at  213-473-7008

CONFLICTING TERMINATION LETTERS?

This June 14, 2006 termination letter  clearly states the immediate termination was due to “contentious content” while an Email sent by Councilman Bernard Parks to Producer Leslie Dutton contradicted the letter, stating he had not pulled his sponsorship of the program.  It is hoped that the real reasons will be revealed at a full hearing on the matter to be held in October.

The Full Disclosure Network® can be seen on 43 cable systems and the internet.  Billed as “the news behind the news” programs feature critical issues rarely addressed in depth in the regular news media.

I was referred here by John & Ken. You clearly are disgussing subjects from a viewpoint that Parks & friends don't want aired.

This is a shameful display of bureaucratic censorship. Clearly, Full-Disclure was hitting too close to home, and the suits at City Hall couldn't stand the exposure.

I think it's worth revisiting The Mission statement of L.A. CityView 35 right at the top of their home page on LACity.org :

"The Mission of L.A. CityView 35 is to serve the people of Los Angeles by providing accurate and current information about policies, services, and activities of city government; to highlight and provide a forum for discussion of significant public issues of concern to the people of Los Angeles; to provide information about candidates and encourage all people representing the diverse ethnic and cultural communities of Los Angeles to involve themselves in local government and public issues."

Clearly Tony Ighani and the leadership of L.A. CityView 35 have failed in their mission by censoring the voice of Full Disclosure. Moreover, by giving into the shameless political pressure of Bernard Parks' office, the management of L.A. CityView 35 has sacrificed the integrity of the mission they have pledged to fulfill.

Censorship? Political Sabatoge? Bureaucratic Vendetta? And I have to choose One of these? How about all three, Leslie. It's apparent there are some back door deals happening, and they stink to high heaven. Oh Lord, Save Us From these Politicians!

I left a message at Councilman Parks office on their voice mail several weeks ago when this first happened and the still have not called me back. I wonder how many other people have not heard back from Parks office?

We are witnessing the corrupt political and racist machine of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on his quest to become the most powerful Latino politician in the nation. Illegal immigration is legal to him and California belongs to the Mexican heritage. His alignment with Viva La Raza is his declaration to his agenda.

His attempt to gain control of the LAUSD to build schools to hold the bulging growth of children of illegal immigrants is a disgrace to the taxpayers of Los Angeles. Full Disclosure should be re-instated on L.A. City's community access channel 35 and the Mayor should stop the corrupt attempt to control the press.

I think Mr. Parks should use spell check.
This was obviously censorship. I have produced shows on public access and never have I seen a show unplugged like this one was. I reside in the area and know the area to have a large Mexican population and I suspect the crew that evening was latino.
One of the reasons that people from all over the world want to come to America is our freedom and freedom of speech. Following the path of censorship because you don't like what is being said will ultimately make America like the oppresive places that people are fleeing.
